The beginning of Finals Week! My favorite time of year!
The Chemistry students did some preparation for their Final. More tomorrow! The AP Biology students did the same thing pretty much. I went over a bunch of problems. We'll do it again tomorrow. I wasn't at school today. Why, you ask?
The Chemistry students did a bunch of Stoichiometry related problems. These will be a big help when next week rolls around. The AP Biology students worked on a myriad of things and, yes, I'm not sure if myriad is appropriately used here. Wow. Only 100 more school days until the end of my career at West Valley High School.
The Chemistry students took the Stoichiometry Quiz today. Some people did really good and some people did really bad. That's OK. Everyone has another shot at it next week when the Final Exam happens. The AP Biology students worked on 3 things today: they attempted to finish the second Genetics/DNA online thing, they worked on some relatively easy genetics problems as a review or they stared vacantly straight ahead, pondering the future where gangs of menacing non-AP students ravage the land for food and entertainment. Yay yay Collaboration Day!
We didn't talk about college today because we are so close to the end of the semester. so, we talked about the Final Exam, what should be in our folders, the Stoichiometry Quiz that happens tomorrow and the Stoichiometry Lab. In AP Biology, we finished the Transformation Lab and turned it in. Only Haydin's group of young and dynamic technicians we able to get the E. coli to transform. Oh, I did my own transformation and it totally worked, too. Shrimp is good especially if it's the kind that lives in the ocean.
The Chemistry students began the Stoichiometry Lab where they add 2 reactants together to create exactly 2.0 grams of a product. The students began the filtering process which is good. Like shrimp. The AP Biology students checked out the bacterial growth in the petri dishes. The one I made myself worked which means the bacteria were transformed making them immune to antibiotic attack and they also kinda glow, using a gene from a glowing jellyfish. Which is kinda like a shrimp in that they both live in the ocean. Mondays are the worst. Well, getting attacked by wolverines is pretty bad too.
The Chemistry students did the math in preparation for the Stoichiometry Lab. That means we will be mixing some chemicals tomorrow. The AP Biology students did the Transformation Lab thing today. And blah blah blah blah blah we will see if the bacteria grow tomorrow. WOW! Hey, Chemistry students! Use this calculator to confirm your answers on the review sheet I gave you. YOU MUST TURN THIS IN TODAY! Sorry for yelling. You can try to use this one, too.

I had a lot of energy today! I think some students finally got a grip on Stoichiometry.
The Chemistry students got a grip on Stoichiometry problems today. I think they did. Tomorrow, we will see how you can use stoichiometry to plan a chemical reaction to produce exactly 2.0 grams of a product. The AP Biology students went to the library today to work on the second part of the Genetics/DNA online thing. |
