Day 169

5/21/2018

Only 1 more Monday after this one! And 11 more days!
The Chemistry students found out a lot about their grades and how much work lies ahead. They also updated their food inventories and figured out if they gained or lost weight over those 3 days. I bet a majority gained which is good and bad depending on who you are.
The AP Biology students went to the library today to continue work on their Final Project. A lot of computer and library time this week so that they can work on that thing.

Only 2 more Fridays! And 12 more days!
The AP Biology students continued work on the Final Project today. I wasn't here and here's clue about where I was...................
The Chemistry students worked on their food inventories, talked about their Baking Contest plans and checked out a little more about how particular items change chemically when baked.

I'm gonna go get my allergies checked tomorrow which is a weird thing to say because I've checked them and they're just fine, thank you very much. They're really great which, of course, means I fell crappy.
The AP Biology students went to the library today to begin working on their Final Projects. Children's books, super heroes and movie-making were the topics of the day.
The Chemistry students began a food inventory today.  They will be keeping track of their caloric intake, which means how much food they eat, over the next 2 days. We will analyze it on Monday. My diet sucks.  Too much processed food. At least it was a lot for today.

You know, today's Advisory wasn't half bad.  We all went to the gym and celebrated the college-bound seniors and the seniors that will enter the military.  It was pretty cool.
The AP Biology students got the information regarding the Final Project today. I also read to them! I used a book that a former student wrote about evolution and it's really good. As the Final Project can be a children's book, I thought this was perfectly appropriate.
The Chemistry students got a look at a video that served as an example of the videos that will be produced for the Baking Contest.  I made shortcake last night and made a video about it and showed the students. Bengie, as usual, stole the show. We talked about how certain ingredients behaved chemically in the shortcake.

Wow, this year is cruising by. Only 15 more days!
The AP Biology students, in keeping with tradition, did absolutely nothing today.  Oh, we may have chatted about the AP exam and what the students thought of it and how they might have done. Onward to the Final Project!
The Chemistry students talked about the asparagus they ate yesterday and the content of the that food. We talked a lot about carbohydrates, their structure and what they do for you. We talked more about the Baking contest which I will demo more clearly tomorrow.

This is a BIG Monday! And you know why.
The AP Biology students took the 2018 Advanced Placement Biology Exam today.  It's a super big deal. All the preparation. All the procrastination! You know what they say...hard work pays off in the long run but procrastination pays off right now.
The Chemistry students were introduced to the Food Chemistry Unit by eating real good asparagus. I made it. Soy sauce, brown sugar, assorted other items, white rice and asparagus. Mmmmmmmmm.....it was good.

After this one, there is only 3 more Fridays!
The Chemistry students were introduced to the Science of Baking Contest, the horrors of McDonalds and calories you eat when you go to Wendy's for some crappy food. We have made it! We are at the final unit of the year, Food Chemistry!
The AP Biology students spent the final day before the AP Biology Exam meditating and doing deep breathing exercises that will have no benefit whatsoever on the AP Biology Exam which happens on Monday morning.

Day 162? That means the school year is over in 18 days. It also means the year is 90% done.
The Chemistry students took the Organic Chemistry exam today. Onto the Food Chemistry Unit and the Final Exam!
The AP Biology students continued to prepare for the AP Biology Exam which is next Monday. I hope everyone is prepared meaning I hope everyone has been preparing for a long time now.

The last Collaboration Day! I didn't even know. Oh well, we'll figure it out.
The Chemistry students did some more review on the Organic Chemistry stuff because we (meaning not me) have an exam tomorrow. After tomorrow, there is only 1 more exam and it's called the Final!
The AP Biology students (the ones that were actually in class. A bunch of students were gone doing some other AP Exam) talked about strategies for the upcoming AP Biology Exam.

Everyone knows there is only 180 days in the school year, right?
The AP Biology students looked at a couple of free response questions in response to the approaching AP Exam which. of course, is next Monday.  Man, this year flew by.
The Chemistry students reviewed every single objective that will be on the Organic Chemistry Exam which, unlike the AP Biology Exam, will be this Thursday. I have included the Power Point review stuff below.  Use it wisely.
