Finals!!! I love 'em! Well, I did in college.
Hey, AP Biology students! Look at this..........

Day 81

Day 81?? That means the school year is 9/20ths of the way done.  Only 11/20ths of the way to go!
The AP Biology continued their review of Genetics which, I think was pretty rewarding in terms of increasing student understanding.  Hahaha just kidding.
The Chemistry students did pretty much the same thing as the AP Biology students except the Genetics part.

Day 80?? That means the school year is 4/9ths of the way complete. And you thought it was halfway done cuz the first semester is almost over.  Nope!
The AP Biology students reviewed in earnest today.  I cruised around top different review groups, dropping knowledge in much the same way way a hibernating bear drops weight.
The Chemistry students also reviewed the material that will be represented on the final in much the same way as a painting is a representation of a real thing. Like trees.

When I was 10, I totally saw Santa Claus flying his sled through the sky. Now I don't know if it was a combination of living next to a major airport and eating 3 pounds of candy canes, but I swear I saw something. Sadly, it was probably just a airplane and me hallucinating.

78 boom boom 78 boom boom 78.  That's what we used to chant at my high school a looooonnnngggg tiiiimmmmeeeee ago.
The AP Biology checked out the results of the Transformation protocol we completed on Thursday. So far, it looks like only Sarah's group had positive results in that their E. coli sample has been transformed into bacteria that can cut X-GAL and resist ampicillin attack.
The Chemistry students used a famous reaction to create real silver holiday ornaments.  Most everyone had good results with a couple of exceptions. I think we'll do this again during Achievement on Tuesday.

Thursday already?  Yes, it's Thursday, the Finding Dory of weekdays.
The AP Biology students completed the Transformation Lab protocol today. Protocol is a cool word, isn't it? Say, "We must complete the transformation protocol", in a deep voice.  You'll sound super smart.
Check this out, Chemistry students......

Hey. No Advisory today! We're gonna use the time to prep for Finals!
The AP Biology students continued their review of the material that will be reflected upon during the Final Exam. We also went over, in detail, the procedure for the Transformation Lab which will take place tomorrow. The E. coli got delivered at 4:15 this afternoon.  I was here forever!
The Chemistry students were shown a good model of the chemical reaction that made our rockets fly. Stoichiometry is a powerful thing if used by mindful people. We also began a review of material that will be on the Final Exam for Chemistry students.

Finals are almost here! You can almost smell the tears upon the breeze.
The AP Biology students began a review of the material that will be on the Final Exam which is pretty much just Genetics.  I didn't mean "just" as "Oh, it's only Genetics...". We covered a lot of stuff in this unit and the Final promises to be a challenge.  Notice how I capitalized 'Final". Gives it more importance, I think.
The Chemistry students wrapped up their models of the chemical reaction that has been propelling their rockets across the sky.  Well, the sky in the classroom anyway. We also had target practice using the rockets. The winning students are going to get cookies!

Only 9 more days until Christmas Break! That's not much, is it?
The AP Biology students finished up the Gel Electrophoresis Lab and turned it in. They also received some review stuff about the upcoming Final Exam. It will cover the entire Genetics Unit which is plenty enough, believe me.
The Chemistry students did some final work on their models of the rocket launch and flight. It's really important that they figure out the best mix of fuels and what is happening at the molecular level during ignition. Where does the energy for launch come from?

Another Friday! This week seriously flew by which is cool cuz I'm going to the Warrior game tomorrow night.
The AP Biology students analyzed the results from our gel electrophoresis run we did yesterday. We measured how far each fragment moved and knowing the size of the fragments of a standard, we interpolated the size of the fragments from the other DNA samples.  Yes, we did.
The Chemistry students continued their exploration of rocketry, chemical reactions and Newtonian physics. I think we learned a little bit about ourselves, too, and isn't that what it's all about?
