Day 21? That means the school year is 7/60ths completed.  Only 53/60ths left to go. But you knew that already, didn't you?
The AP Biology students received their next lab assignment today.  It covers the fascinating topics of Mitosis and Meiosis. The students looked at several samples of mitosis by observing preserved sections of Allium root tip.  It kinda looks like this:

The Biology students continued their discussion of macromolecules, those large compounds that are foound in all living things.  We talked about proteins and lipids today.  We also worked on a practice exam in preparation for the first exam of the year which will take place on Thursday, September 17th. I have attached the PowerPoint for the Chapter 2 and 3 information below.  That will probably help a lot for the exam.

The Chemistry students got back the first exam of the year today and we went over it, in detail. Students like Ruben, JoeLyn and Amber were super happy. Others? Not so much. But as is the case for all Chemistry assessments, there will be an opportunity to improve one's grades by re-taking selected Learning Objective assessments beginning this Thursday.  We also discussed how big a number like a mole is.  We also practiced figuring out the identity of certain isotopes and how to calculate molar mass.  Wow, sounds like a busy day.
